Every evening, Zadie tapped her rocket window and played Maybe Map. Ping meant star. Pop meant moon. Hummm meant the ringed planet rolling by like a sleepy drum.
Until one day, a tiny “shoo-shoo-shoo” slipped between the pings. Zadie drew a curly line in her notebook. Because of that, she chased the sound past silver dots and lemon-bright stars. Because of THAT, the curls multiplied, soft as ribbon candy, until even the comet paused to listen.
“Maybe it’s a secret door,” Zadie whispered. At last, she stopped chasing and held very still. The swirlfield answered: shoo-shoo-shoo, the sound of space breathing. Next time you spot those curls around the rocket, can you hear Zadie’s Maybe Map begin again?
