🎨 How to color it

Color the space station’s modules in cool silver and white, make the solar-panel grids deep blue, and shade Earth’s oceans teal with soft green landmasses. Use sharp colored pencils for the many tiny panel squares, truss beams, and module seams so the realistic details stay crisp. Try a pale violet-to-navy fade behind the stars and crescent moon, leaving the station bright as if it has just crossed into sunlight.

Under the sleeping side of the station, a loose screw made a tiny zzz-tik against Bren’s palm. It looked ordinary, but it had come from Dad’s old repair kit, the one Bren was only allowed to borrow for “simple jobs.” Bren wanted to fasten it into the far truss before the morning crew noticed the rattle. The airlock breathed cold metal. Outside, Earth rolled blue and enormous under Bren’s boots, and the stars seemed to lean closer, as if they knew a secret.

Hand over hand, Bren crossed the long beam past square solar panels that clicked softly in sunlight. Halfway there, a strip from Bren’s glove snagged on a bracket and tore away, floating like a white ribbon. Bren swallowed hard. “Keep humming,” Bren whispered to the screw, and pushed on. At the end, the loose joint shivered. Twist, twist, snug. The rattle stopped.

Back inside, Bren brought home no perfect glove, but the quiet felt different now: wider, and not so empty. If you spot the long truss between the station parts, that’s where one small zzz-tik became Bren’s first brave secret.
