Under the warm sun, Bram patted a tiny apple from red clay. Pat, pat, smooth, smooth. He wanted to make one thing all by himself for the hill by the tree.
The grass smelled sweet. The apples went plop-plop in the leaves. Bram pressed his clay apple into the soft dirt and whispered, “I made you.”
