🎨 How to color it

Color the tall palms emerald green with cocoa-brown trunks, the mountain peaks soft lavender gray, the sailboat bright white with a cherry-red stripe, and the water turquoise blue. Use broad, gentle crayon strokes for the open sea and sky, then switch to a sharper pencil for the tiny island palms and the jagged palm leaves. Try making the water darker near the sailboat and lighter along the curving shore, as if the cove is keeping a secret.

The story behind this coloring page

Sami and the Whisper Cove — Under the leaning palm, Sami tapped a coconut shell: tok, tok, tok. Read the full story →

Under the leaning palm, Sami tapped a coconut shell: tok, tok, tok. He wanted a whistle-shell from the far bend of the cove, the kind that made a tiny sea-bird sound when you blew across it. The beach looked long from his shady spot. The waves hissed, hush-hush, like they knew a secret. “I’ll go only to the next palm,” Sami whispered, and stepped out where the sand felt hot and grainy.

He passed scratchy beach grass, gave one sandal to the sticky mud, and hopped the last few steps. No whistle-shell waited by the bend. But under a flat gray stone, where nobody checked because it looked too plain, Sami found a folded leaf note: BACK BEFORE SUPPER? He laughed. It was from his big sister on the little sailboat. Sami tucked the note in his pocket and walked home braver than before. Next time you see the curving shore, can you guess which plain stone kept the secret?
