🎨 How to color it

Color the baby T. rex mint green, the cracked eggshell buttery cream, the sprout fresh leaf green, and the rocks soft gray. Use chunky crayons for the big round head and egg, then slow down for the tiny claws, spots, and shell cracks. Try making the inside of the egg a pale peach so the little dinosaur looks extra warm and newly hatched.

Tap-tap-tap came through the warm shell. Pip pressed his nose to the smooth inside and wanted that tiny sound more than his breakfast smell. He pushed with one foot. Crack! Cold meadow air tickled his spots, and a chip of shell slid down his snout.

Outside, the sound was not a claw or a beak. It was a small sprout tapping the shell with two new leaves. “Hello?” whispered Pip. The sprout shivered in the breeze. Pip gave it his warmest shell piece as a little wall. Then he climbed back into the big half-shell, quieter than before, listening: tap-tap, leaf-leaf, heart-heart. If you peek at the broken shell, can you find the brave sprout that called him out?
