Every evening, Tavi tapped three acorns, sniffed the dry-leaf smell, and played Echo Peek from his safe hollow. He had just invented a better game: Topsy-Turvy Guess-It. The rule was simple—hang upside down, name whatever drifted past, and do not squeak “Eep!” unless a beetle landed on your nose. Until one day, his cousin Wrennie dropped an acorn below the lowest oak branch. Clack! It bounced right into the moonlit open.
Because of that, Tavi had to follow the acorn to keep his new game from being “Acorn Lost-It.” Because of THAT, he hooked his toes onto the big branch, swung down, and saw leaves floating the wrong way up. His belly fluttered like a moth in a jar. “I’m doing it,” he whispered, then guessed, “Maple! Berry! Silly acorn!” Finally, he plucked up the acorn and laughed so hard the leaves shook. Next time you spot him hanging there, can you tell which leaf he guessed first?
