🎨 How to color it

Layer the butterfly’s wings in monarch orange, coral, and deep teal, with goldenrod wildflower centers, sage leaves, and pale blue clouds behind it. Use sharp pencils for the tiny spirals, petals, and dotted wing border, coloring each wing section from the outer black band toward the body to keep the patterns crisp. Try a warm-to-cool fade across the four wings, letting the meadow stay mostly soft green so the zentangle details feel like stained glass.

The story behind this coloring page

The Pin That Waited — Every day, Calla crossed the high meadow at first light, brass pin tucked under her cuff, delivering weather notes between ridge towers while grass hissed against her boots and bees sparked through the poppies. Read the full story →

Every day, Calla crossed the high meadow at first light, brass pin tucked under her cuff, delivering weather notes between ridge towers while grass hissed against her boots and bees sparked through the poppies. Until one day the eastern path vanished under racing cloud-shadow, and the pin—her mother’s dull little compass, never hurried, never wrong—pulled hard toward the butterfly fields instead. Because of that, Calla waited while the wind snapped and the towers rang their impatient bells; because of that, she saw the giant patterned wings rise where the safe current opened. She ran then, laughing into the green smell of crushed stems, and reached the far tower before the storm, the brass pin warm at her wrist, patient as first light.
