🎨 How to color it

Try pearl gray for the chinchilla’s plush fur, blush pink inside the large ears, honey brown for the wooden shelf, and oatmeal beige for the food in the bowl. Use sharp colored pencils for the whiskers, ear fur, and little stick fragments, then switch to smooth light layers for the round body. Add a cool blue-gray shadow under the bowl and paws so the fluffy chinchilla feels perched on the plank.

Every evening, Quill sorted his chew sticks beside the oat bowl: long ones to the left, nibbled ones to the right, crumbs flicking under his quick paws. He wanted to build a tiny bridge from the shelf to the window ledge, where the moon made silver squares on the wall, but his first bridges always sagged with a dusty creak.

Until one day, a cricket sprang from the oat bowl—ping!—and landed on Quill’s neat stick pile. “Race you to the moon square!” it chirped. Because of that, Quill grabbed the straightest sticks and shoved them into a crisscross track. Because of that, the cricket bounced across, testing each joint, while Quill tightened the gaps with chewed bark strips that smelled sharp and woody.

At last the bridge held. Quill bounded over it, tail high, and tapped the glowing ledge with both front paws. The cricket bowed like a tiny knight. If you spot the scattered sticks and the waiting bowl, you’ve found the workshop where Quill first sorted long ones to the left.
