🎨 How to color it

Color the panda with classic black-and-white fur, make the star bandana cherry red with golden stars, and shade the bamboo stalks fresh green beside cool gray rocks. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow bamboo leaves, cloud curls, and bandana stripes, then switch to smoother strokes on the panda’s round belly and paws. Add a pale blue sweep behind the running lines so the panda looks like it just burst through the grove.

Every day after lunch, Koa tied bamboo ribs with vine and tested his leaf-sled on the dusty canyon path. Whish, bump, flop! The sled skidded into stones while his red star scarf smelled like sun-warmed grass, but Koa kept sanding the runners with his own paws.

Until one day, a silver wind weasel tumbled from a cloud curl and squeaked, “My breeze is stuck!” Because of that, Koa lashed two extra bamboo strips under the sled. Because of that, the weasel puffed a wild gust that yanked them between the canes, past clacking leaves and rattling rocks.

At the canyon bend, the stuck breeze had trapped a flock of paper kites in thorny bamboo. Koa steered hard, his paws burning, his homemade sled cutting a clean curve. The kites sprang free in a snap-snap-snap of paper. Next time you spot Koa’s star scarf flying, listen for that proud whish, bump, glide.
