🎨 How to color it

Give the baby fish a sunny yellow body, the cracked eggshell a pale cream, the tall seaweed sea green, and the bubbles light blue. Chunky crayons are perfect for the big egg pieces and round fish body; little hands can color over the lines if they need to. Add one tiny rainbow stripe on the fish’s tail so it looks like a secret gift from inside the shell.

Tap-tap, Pip bumped his nose on his cozy shell. He wanted a soft bed for his wiggly tail. Out he swam, swish-swish, past tickly grass and pop-pop bubbles.

A shell chip poked his fin. “Ouch,” whispered Pip. He tucked the chip under a droopy anemone so no baby would bump it. Under the frills sat a tiny pearl-seed, cool and smooth. Pip rolled it back home and curled beside it. Next time you see the cracked shell, can you find Pip’s secret soft bed?
