Across the shell garden, Nico zipped after bubble-pops. Pop! Pip! Ploop! He wanted to tap his tail to every sound before the sunbeam slid off the sand. Pebbles clicked under the water, sea plants waved like tiny green flags, and Nico’s fins whooshed fast, fast, fast.
A giant spiral shell gave a soft hum. Nico slowed. “Did you say ploop?” he asked. The shell answered with his own bubbly song, only rounder and deeper, like a drum inside a cave. Nico laughed and tapped once. The shell boomed back once.
Soon Nico and the shell made a swimming song together: tap, hum, pop, swish! Even the bubbles rose in time. If you follow the spiral with your finger, can you hear Nico still chasing that first pop-pip-ploop?
