🎨 How to color it

Color the sports car cherry red, the sponge sunshine yellow with mint spots, and the soap bubbles pale blue. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the big hood, windshield, and tires, and don’t worry if the bubbles get extra wobbly. Try making the suds on top of the windshield a rainbow of tiny foam colors.

Behind the car wash, Nilo kept Papa’s old sponge tucked on his hood. It smelled like lemons and garage dust. He wanted to carry it through the sprayers without dropping it, but the wash bay went hiss-hiss-hiss, and his little tires shivered.

Then the biggest bubble bounced onto his windshield. Nilo whispered, “I can go one roll more.” He nudged forward. The sponge squeezed out a tiny foam circle, then another, pop-pop, right where his lights smiled.
