🎨 How to color it

Color the shark sea-glass blue, the pirate hat deep navy with a white skull, the treasure chest warm brown, and the coins bright gold. Use chunky crayons or markers for the wide shirt stripes, hat, and sandy beach, then help with small spots like the pearls and buckle. Try making every other shirt stripe red, so this smiling pirate looks extra bold against a pale turquoise sea.

At Seashell Spit, Bix the shark pirate scooped sand with his little shovel and hummed, “Clink, clank, cloo!” He wanted to leave bright coins for the tiny crabs before they woke from their naps. The beach smelled salty and warm, and palm leaves flapped like laughing flags. Bix slid one coin under a shell, tucked two pearls beside a tide pool, and set a shiny button where a sleepy gull would never step on it.

When Bix leaned on his shovel, the handle gave a funny pop. Out rolled a curled note no one had thought to check. It said, “For Bix, who shares when nobody is peeking.” Inside the hollow handle were three peppermint-striped shells from the crab crew. Bix snorted so hard his eye patch wiggled. He dropped his last gold coin into the open chest for them, then marched off singing “Clink, clank, cloo!” Can you spot the place where his sneaky surprise began?
