🎨 How to color it

Layer deep teal over the shark’s patterned body, use coral pink and sea-glass green for the branching reef, and give the curling currents pale aqua shadows. Because the shark is packed with scales, spirals, and leaf-like panels, use sharp colored pencils and fill one enclosed shape at a time before moving outward. Try a warm-to-cool contrast by making the shark’s fin patterns flash with gold while the surrounding waves stay blue and silver.

Every day, Sable tested her handbuilt current-sail through the coral arcade, listening to its shell ribs click and feeling pride in each tight kelp stitch. Until one day, the festival tide tore loose, roaring like drums through the arches. Because of that, lantern fish scattered into the dark seams; because of that, the parade map spun uselessly away. Sable bit the little sail free, snapped it open against the rush, and let her own making pull a bright path through foam, salt, and silver bubbles. At dusk, the shell ribs clicked like applause.
