Before sunup, Mila tapped one daisy. Tap, tap. She wanted the tiny fawns to come close. But the leaves only shivered, and the air smelled like wet grass.
Then a blue bird peeped, “Wait.” Mila sat very still. Plip. A heart bud opened. Plip, plip. More hearts popped between the flowers, soft as secrets.
The fawns stepped out at last, one by one, and stood where the hearts had bloomed. Ever since, Mila’s glade grows little hearts for patient feet. Can you find the first one that opened?
