🎨 How to color it

Give the number 7 jersey a bright scarlet, the corner flag a sunny yellow, the soccer ball classic black and white panels, and the cheering stands a mix of sky blue and soft gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the jersey stripes, shoe studs, railings, and tiny crowd faces, then switch to broader strokes for the grass and stadium walls. Try a brave warm-to-cool contrast: make the player vivid and fiery, while the far flags and upper seats fade into cooler blues.

At the corner of the stadium, where the grass smelled sharp and the flag snapped like a sail, Juno set the ball on the chalk arc. She had invented a game called Corner-Crowd Compass: tap the ball, point to one cheering section, and sprint wherever their hands seemed to send her. Her knees fizzed the first time she faced the wall of waving arms. “Left stand, show me!” she called, and a ripple of claps ran along the rail.

She tapped the ball with the inside of her cleat and followed the biggest wave of hands. The crowd whooped, scarves fluttered, and the sound rolled under the roof like thunder in a tunnel. Juno pointed again, faster this time. Every section answered with a different shape: high hands meant dash, fists meant pause, flags meant curve. Her new game grew a map she could run.

Then she noticed the ball had been choosing too. Its black panels flashed arrows between her feet, matching the crowd’s signals exactly. Juno laughed so hard her ponytail whipped her cheek, and she took one small, brave touch along the line. Next time you spot her by the snapping corner flag, see if the crowd’s hands are giving the Compass its next direction.
