🎨 How to color it

Color the elephant soft gray, the party hat lemon yellow with pink stripes, the balloons sky blue and cherry red, and the gift box mint green with a purple bow. Use chunky crayons or broad marker strokes on the elephant’s big ears and round balloons, and don’t worry if little hands color over the lines. For a playful party look, make each confetti piece a different bright color, like tiny sprinkles in the air.

The story behind this coloring page

In the back room of the party tent, Bixby patted his tiny shiny button: tap, tap, tap. It was not sewn to anything, but he carried it everywhere because it made the best little click. Balloons bumped his ears. Paper confetti smelled dusty and sweet.

He marched between the ribbons, clicking the button in time. “Click-click means parade!” he said. The other balloons bobbed as if they agreed. Then Bixby bumped a wrapped box with his toe, and out rolled six more shiny buttons—each one on a string.

The twist was silly: the “buttons” were balloon weights wearing party hats! Bixby tied one to his tail, one to the gift, and one to his hat string. Now everything clicked, bobbed, and belonged in the same wobbly band. If you spot the present, you’ll know where the parade found its extra click.
