🎨 How to color it

Color the baby elephant soft gray, the butterfly orange and sky blue, the daisies sunny yellow, and the grass spring green. Use chunky crayons for the elephant’s big ears and body, then switch to the crayon tip for the butterfly’s small wing shapes and the flower petals. Try making the butterfly the brightest part of the page, as if the elephant has just spotted a tiny flying jewel.

The story behind this coloring page

Every day, Tula padded through the meadow and counted soft things: one cloud, two petals, three swishes of grass against her toes. She wanted to know what made the tiny humming sound that floated over the daisies. One day, the hum stopped right above her eyes.

Because of that, Tula held very still, even though her nose tickled. Because of THAT, a butterfly folded its wings on her head-tuft and lifted a speck of silver fluff from between the hairs. “Oh!” whispered Tula. Inside the fluff was a seed, humming as it turned. The butterfly carried it to the sun-warm grass, where a new flower would wake. Next time you see Tula’s little tuft, can you imagine the hidden hum?
