🎨 How to color it

Color the airplane cherry red with silver wings, make the puffy loop trails bright white with pale blue shadows, and give the striped cones orange bands and yellow flags. Use sharp colored pencils around the propeller rings, cockpit window, and confetti scraps, then fill the larger wings and cloud loops with smooth marker strokes. Try making the two sky loops slightly different—one with lavender shadows and one with mint shadows—so the stunt path feels extra playful.

Every morning before the Whirligig Festival, Pippa polished her propeller, counted the striped cones, and practiced one tidy loop above the flag line. She wanted her routine so smooth that even the judges’ pencils would stop scratching. The air always smelled like sun-warmed canvas and popcorn oil—until one day, a blue kite-eel popped from behind a banner, dragging a snarled ribbon and hiccuping sparks of confetti.

Because of that, Pippa swerved before the starting bell and puffed a smoke ring around the kite-eel to slow its tumble. Because of that, her perfect path turned crooked, then curlier, then downright ridiculous as the little creature sneezed, “No witnesses, please!” and wriggled toward the tallest pole. The crowd was still buying lemonade below; nobody saw Pippa spend her shiniest loops untangling ribbon from the flag hooks.

Until finally, the kite-eel zipped free and vanished into a cloud with a wicked little tail flick. Pippa rolled back over the course just as the bell rang, leaving two fat loops in the sky and confetti fluttering like giggles. Next time you spot those puffy circles above the flags, check whether one looks a little mischievous and smells faintly of sun-warmed canvas and popcorn oil.
