🎨 How to color it

Color the rabbit soft honey-brown, the bow robin’s-egg blue, the wheelbarrow weathered tan, and the patterned eggs in coral, mint, yellow, and lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the egg stripes, dots, and zigzags, then switch to broader strokes for the winding path and leafy bushes. Try making the flowers along the fence brighter than the far cottage garden, so the wheelbarrow feels like it is bursting forward.

The story behind this coloring page

Hazel Shares the Sun Cart — Every morning, Hazel buckled her blue bow, rubbed the warm tin button tied to her cart handle, and rushed painted eggs from the shed to the cottage lane before the bellbird’s first tweet. Read the full story →

Every morning, Hazel buckled her blue bow, rubbed the warm tin button tied to her cart handle, and rushed painted eggs from the shed to the cottage lane before the bellbird’s first tweet. The button looked like a bottle cap, but it had belonged to her traveling aunt, who said it could “remember sunshine.” Hazel wanted to keep its glow for herself, tucked under her paw where it clicked softly against the wood.

Then one day, the cart hit a root with a THUMP, and the button flashed gold. Because of that, every egg in the cart began to hum—low, bright, and tickly as bees in clover. Because of THAT, daisies leaned over the fence, birds swooped down, and children opened cottage windows, calling, “What’s making that happy noise?”

Hazel could not carry so much joy alone. She tied the button high on the handle, ran the cart faster, and let the humming spill along the lane until everyone was singing with it. Next time you spot the little cart handle, listen for the warm tin click that started the whole sunny rush.
