🎨 How to color it

Color the rain boots sunny yellow with red polka dots, the umbrella sky blue and lime green, and the big leafy tree fresh green with a tan trunk. Use broad crayon strokes for the umbrella panels and puddle, then switch to a sharper pencil for the boot dots, grass tufts, and tiny worm face. Try making the puddle pale blue in the center and darker blue around the ripples, as if the summer rain just stopped.

Beside the village path, Oren set his yellow boots at the puddle’s edge and waited for the sky to fit inside. Drip, drip, drip went the last rain from the tree leaves. The puddle wiggled, then quieted. Oren held his breath. He wanted to see the smiling sun float whole in the water.

A tiny worm popped from the wet grass. “May I cross?” she whispered. Her soft belly made one little plip, then another. Circles spread wide and gentle, carrying the sun, the clouds, and Oren’s boots together. Oren waited until the rings touched every edge, and the puddle looked bigger than before. Ever since then, puddles keep circles to make room for small travelers; can you spot the first one peeking from the grass?
