🎨 How to color it

Color the long center ornament ruby red, the round baubles emerald and icy blue, the pine needles deep forest green, and the bows soft gold. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny berry circles, star points, and narrow pine needles, then switch to broader strokes inside the larger ornament panels. Try making the center ornament look handmade by alternating red, gold, and white sections in its scalloped bands and swirl designs.

Every evening, Liora swept silver paper curls from the floor of the winter makers’ hall and added one careful brushstroke to her glass ornament. She wanted it ready for the Solstice Window, the bright display where every lantern caught the work of local hands. Until one day, while polishing an old cracked bauble no one chose, she heard a dry tick-tick inside it, like a seed in a shell.

Because of that, Liora eased off the tiny metal cap and shook out a rolled strip of blue paper smelling faintly of pine sap. It showed a pattern of stars, berries, and bows, with three words written small: Made by Mara. Because of that, Liora stopped copying the store samples and cut her own curling shapes from foil, bending each one with cold, tingling fingers.

At dusk, the window glowed gold around her ornament. “I made it mine,” she whispered. The cracked old bauble hung beside it, not hidden now, and if you search among the bows and stars, you may spot the secret that started with one careful brushstroke.
