Under the orchard roof, Pip sniffed the air. Moonberry crumbs! They smelled like sugar and cold leaves, and they were waiting on the far fence. Pip tucked his toes tighter around his branch. The open sky looked very big.
Then a tiny star blinked beside him and whispered, “Psst. I know a shortcut.” Pip fluttered out—flap, flap, wobble—and followed it past scratchy twigs and one drippy leaf that plopped right on his nose. At the fence, the crumbs were gone. But the star had left him something better: a shiny silver seed that chimed when he held it. Pip flew home with his wings a little wider. Next time you see the smiling moon, maybe you can spot his secret path across the night.
