🎨 How to color it

Try smoky lavender for the bat, buttery yellow for the crescent moon, deep teal for the leafy vines, and coral pink for the small flowers. Use sharp colored pencils for the wing veins, tiny stars, berries, and vine curls, working from the outer border toward the bat so your hand stays off the finished details. For a mischievous twist, shade the moon’s spiral patterns from pale gold to orange and give each bat wing a different hidden swirl color.

Between two silver vine curls, Fizzbit squeaked into the night, hunting for the perfect place to bounce a giggle. The air smelled like open flowers and peppery leaves, and every star seemed close enough to poke. “Hee-hee-hup!” he called, tilting one wing toward the crescent’s bright rim. The sound came back wiggly, as if it had tripped over its own toes.

Fizzbit tried again. “Hee-hee-HUP!” This time the vines answered with rustle-rustle, curl-curl. Berries bobbed. Little leaves shivered. A bell-shaped blossom leaned so far that Fizzbit snorted and nearly slipped from laughing. He had meant to find an echo, but the whole moonframe was acting like a ticklish audience.

Then a tiny spiral near his foot cleared its throat. “Finally,” it whispered. “Our dance leader arrived.” Fizzbit blinked. Every curl, leaf, berry, and star-dot had been waiting for a bat beat to follow. So he flapped once, squeaked twice, and the border twirled in leafy loops around him. If you can spot the happiest curl near Fizzbit’s toes, you may know exactly where the next hee-hee-hup belongs.
