🎨 How to color it

Layer the bat’s angular body in charcoal gray and deep violet, the webbed wing panels in smoky blue, the crescent in pale gold, and the three stars in icy silver. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny moon bands, wing-web segments, and faceted face lines, turning the page as you fill each narrow shape cleanly. For a secret-night effect, blend violet outward from the bat’s body into cooler blues along the wing tips while keeping the crescent warm.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the moon scaffolds, Neral kept a torn wing-panel folded close, listening to the thin tick of frost on iron. He needed one silver thread before dawn, not for beauty but for flight; the roost’s old spool had gone hollow in his claws. So he slipped from his warm rib of stone and crossed the open air, where the wind smelled of cold metal and starlight scraped softly along his ears.

At the crescent’s outer rim, he waited while three stars shivered above him, saying nothing. Patience costs more in the dark: first a numb claw, then a lost hour, then the pride of not asking. At last Neral tapped the quietest star with one careful talon. It opened like a folded secret. Inside lay no thread, but a tiny silver comb full of moon-filaments, finer and stronger than any spool. He mended the tear slowly, tooth by tooth, and returned changed, carrying the comb against his chest while frost kept ticking on iron.
