🎨 How to color it

Color the panda’s eye patches and ears charcoal black, the bamboo stalks yellow-green, the leafy sprays deep jade, and the rounded rocks cool gray. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow bamboo joints and pointed leaves, then switch to broader strokes for the panda’s belly and the open path. Try making the clearing glow with pale golden shading behind the panda, as if a secret bit of sunlight found its way through the bamboo.

Under the morning mist, Zuno pressed one paw to the ground and counted how long each pebble tap took to fade. He had given himself a challenge: find the quietest spot in the whole thicket before the dew slid from the bamboo leaves. Tap. Tick. Hush. But every trail answered him with leaf-scrapes, beetle clicks, or the hollow knock of bamboo stems rubbing together.

Then a sound came back that he had not made. Tok... tok... tok. Zuno followed it past cold rocks smelling of rain and into a clearing where the bamboo leaned close, as if sharing a secret. In the middle, the pebble path curved toward him. He sat very still. “Who is tapping?” he whispered.

The path answered by carrying his whisper under the stones, around the roots, and back as a tiny rustle. Zuno laughed so softly the bamboo leaves trembled. Ever since that morning, the clearing has kept its pebbles loose and its leaves parted, so footsteps can tell their secrets and hear them return. If you trace the little stones with your eyes, can you guess where Zuno’s first tap is hiding?
