🎨 How to color it

Color the crab a bright coral red, his pirate hat navy blue, the feather emerald green, and the open treasure chest warm golden brown. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the crab’s round body and big hat, then let a sharper pencil help with the coins, footprints, and crosshatch patch. Try making the curling wave turquoise on the outside and pale blue near the foam so the smiling crab feels right at home by the water.

Each morning, before the sun warmed the wet sand, Kip set his little flag beside his shell and counted soft waves. He wanted to reach twelve without scuttling away. “One hush, two hush,” he whispered, while salt tickled his claws.

Until one day, the seventh wave rolled in carrying a tiny silver key. Because of that, Kip followed its cold sparkle to a buried chest, and because of THAT, he heard the coins inside hum like sleepy bees. He raised his flag at twelve, not to claim the chest, but to mark the place where the sea had counted with him. Next time you see the little footprints in the sand, can you guess which ones belong to Kip?
