Under the warm hum of the dryer, Dobby poked a paw at his plain bowl. He wanted a supper spot he had made himself before the kibble scoop rattled. “I can do it,” he whispered. First he nudged a soft pillow down the hall. Flump, bump, flump. Then he dragged his toy bone, clickety-click over the floor.
By the time he pushed the bowl into place, his paws felt sleepy and his ears drooped. But the little nook smelled like clean towels and puppy biscuits. Dobby sat tall beside his pillow, bone, and bowl. When the kibble came, it sounded like tiny rain in his own made-by-Dobby place.
