Every day, Luca raced the tide on the rocky coast. He slapped a shell on the wet sand and shouted, “Foam-path race!” Then he chased the white curls before they fizzed away, salt popping on his lips and gulls yelling overhead.
Until one day, the foam did not run back to sea. It curled around the rocks in a twisty trail. Because of that, Luca followed it past a slippery pool. Because of that, he heard a gull peeping near the lighthouse steps, its foot caught in ribbon weed. “Hold still!” Luca said. He tugged, the weed snapped, and the gull burst up into the wind.
At sunset, Luca made a new rule: the best racers helped the path choose where to go. Next time you see the foamy trail under his name, can you spot where the race turned brave?
