🎨 How to color it

Give the castle stones a warm light gray, the scalloped roof tiles a cherry red, the star flag a bright royal blue, and the little trees leafy green. For toddlers, use chunky crayons on the big tower, flag, hills, and clouds, and let the small stone blocks be “extra dots” if little hands feel ready. Try making the star yellow so it shines like a tiny sun above the door.

Down the bumpy tower lane, Della ran with a paper star in her pocket. It crinkled, crinkle-crinkle, while the wind whooshed the high flag.

She tapped the big door. “Joy delivery!” she called. The stones felt cool, and the grass smelled sweet.

Up above, the flag flipped over. There was Della’s little star, big and bright for everyone to see!

The guards clapped, the trees wiggled, and Della laughed so loud the clouds seemed to bounce. Next time you see that star flag, can you hear crinkle-crinkle?
