🎨 How to color it

Try a pearl-white coat for the unicorn, a silver horn, moss green ferns, chestnut-brown tree trunks, and russet mushroom caps. Use sharp colored pencils for the mane’s long waves, the bark grooves, and the mushroom gills so those narrow lines stay crisp. Add a faint lavender glow around the little stars to make the forest clearing feel secretly enchanted.

Under a roof of creaking branches, Vesper scratched twelve tiny stars into the soft dirt with her hoof. Her challenge was simple: find thirteen star-marks before moonrise, or admit the old mushroom forest had counted better than she could. The air smelled of wet bark and peppery fern. She stepped away from her warm hollow, following a silver twinkle between the trunks.

At the crooked log bridge, a beetle guard tapped its shell. “Toll,” it clicked. Vesper had no coins, only the little blue bell tied in her tail. She left it there, and the forest went quieter without its bright jingle. Past the bridge, mushrooms leaned like listening ears. One cap glowed, not with a star, but with a hollow underneath.

Inside lay her missing thirteenth mark, carved on a smooth white stone—and beside it, a map of paths she had never dared to take. Vesper carried the stone home as moonlight spilled through the leaves. If you follow the stars around her, can you guess which one sent her into the trees?
