🎨 How to color it

Color the rainbow in classic red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, then make the whale tail deep teal, the waves ocean blue, and the tiny sailboat cherry red. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow rainbow bands and the tail’s curved grooves, then switch to broader side-strokes for the rolling water. Try a pale golden glow around the smiling sun so the white clouds and foamy splash still pop.

Every day, Sable circled the far buoy and tucked a torn red sail under a shelf of coral, where it snapped softly in the tide like a brave little flag. She wanted to keep it forever; it was the only piece left from the night she had nudged a broken boat away from black rocks. Then one day, a foghorn groaned from the white weather, and a tiny sailboat drifted with no wind, its captain tapping the mast in a worried clink-clink.

Because of that, Sable raced through salt spray to the rainbow current, the fastest road in the sea. But the current would not open for empty fins. Because of THAT, she dove to the coral shelf, bit the red sail free, and flung it high with her tail. “Take it,” she boomed, and no one heard but the gulls.

At last, the rainbow caught the scrap, brightened like struck glass, and poured wind toward the stranded boat. Sable slipped under the waves before the captain could wave thanks. If you study the splash, maybe you can spot where a brave little flag became part of the sky.
