🎨 How to color it

Color the gnome’s hat in deep teal and copper, his flowing beard in layered warm grays, the crystal staff in icy violet, and the mushrooms in rusty red with cream stems. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny zigzags, leaf veins, spirals, and robe panels, filling one bordered section at a time so the patterns stay crisp. For a playful contrast, make the crystal glow with pale lavender fading into white while the surrounding forest leaves shift through olive, sage, and moss green.

Every night, Oswin polished his crystal staff until it made one shy wink—his private challenge was to brighten the grove without waking a single mushroom. One damp evening, the crystal sneezed lavender sparks into his beard. Because of that, the roots began twinkling like gossiping buttons; because of that, sleepy moths arrived wearing smug little halos, and the mushrooms demanded, “Our turn.” Oswin tried to hush them with both hands and only made the light bounce higher. Finally he bowed, tapped the staff once, and shared the shine with everyone, including the mushrooms, who blinked back one shy wink.
