🎨 How to color it

Layer smoky gray on the koala, sage and olive on the long eucalyptus leaves, and warm sienna on the patterned trunk. Use sharp pencils and color the tiny dots, scallops, leaf veins, and spiral bands from the outside edges inward to keep the zentangle spaces crisp. Try one mischievous accent color—turquoise, coral, or gold—hidden in a few trunk flowers and the koala’s ear swirls.

Under a pearly afternoon sky, Sable tucked peppery eucalyptus tips into a bark groove, chuckling at the private luxury of a snack no kookaburra could review. The gum tree smelled sharp and clean; her claws clicked softly as she patted each leaf flat. A twig beside her coughed. It was not a twig, but a varnished stick insect wearing two fallen petals like spectacles, inspecting her pantry with grand seriousness. Sable added three more leaves, then slid the whole bundle behind a curling strip of bark where passing ants, beetles, and one pompous insect professor would find it before dusk. She kept only the smallest leaf, because generosity tastes funniest when nobody applauds, especially under a pearly afternoon sky.
