Under the craft table, where tape smelled sharp and paper scraps made shh-shh sounds, Tessa built a new game called Secret Toss. She cut a fat paper heart, pressed it flat with both palms, and whispered, “For you.” But the whisper popped right out and tickled the cat’s ear.
So Tessa folded a little paper house with flaps, corners, and a snug pocket. She slid the heart inside and shut it with a pat. No whisper escaped. No secret wiggled loose. When she tossed it to her brother, he opened it and grinned like he had found sunshine.
