🎨 How to color it

Try turquoise for the butterfly’s main wing panels, coral for the triangle sections, lemon yellow for the round antenna tips, and violet for the floating circles and triangles. Use sharp colored pencils for the small triangles and narrow rays, coloring from the outer wing edges toward the center point. For a playful twist, make the matching left and right shapes opposite colors so the butterfly looks like a mischievous mirror.

The story behind this coloring page

The morning smelled like warm stone and clover when Zadie tucked a dull coat button under her chin and fluttered to the Polygon Garden. She wanted to tap the opening note for the garden’s shape-show, just once, before the older butterflies made the triangles spin. The button clicked softly against her chest: tik, tik, tik. “I can do one tiny tap,” she told a pebble, which did not argue.

At the center arch, Zadie lifted the button to the brass circle on the gate. Instead of a note, every triangle around her gave a sneaky little wobble. The circles blinked like soap bubbles. Zadie almost laughed her courage right out of the air, but she tapped again—tok!—and the whole garden answered with a zigzag chime.

Then the button wriggled open. Inside was not thread, but a tiny round mouth shouting, “Finally! I’ve been practicing!” It hummed, and the shapes arranged themselves into music while Zadie steered the rhythm with one brave tap at a time. Look back at the round-tipped feelers and scattered triangles—you can almost hear tik, tik, tok from Zadie’s dull coat button.
