🎨 How to color it

Layer slate blue and charcoal into the elephant’s angular face, use burnished gold for the sunburst crown, and pick violet, teal, and silver for the small stars, triangles, and diamonds. Because the ears, trunk, and forehead are packed with narrow polygon sections, use sharp pencils and color neighboring facets one at a time to keep the linework crisp. Try a warm-to-cool shift from the golden rays behind the head into icy blues along the trunk so the tusks stay bright and sculptural.

The story behind this coloring page

Quill Breaks the Quiet Rule — Every evening, Quill polished the crystal observatory’s floor until the star tiles behaved, clicking into tidy triangles under the smell of cold brass and dust. Read the full story →

Every evening, Quill polished the crystal observatory’s floor until the star tiles behaved, clicking into tidy triangles under the smell of cold brass and dust. Then he invented Blink-Tusk, a game of nudging one moonbeam with one tusk before the curator sneezed. Until one night, the ceiling chime jammed on a ridiculous ping-ping-ping, and Quill’s first brave shove scattered the constellations into a radiant elephant-shaped grin. Because of that, tourists laughed; because of that, the curator laughed too—after hiccuping. Finally, Quill bowed beneath the unruly rays, ready to polish tomorrow’s quiet into mischief again.
