🎨 How to color it

Color the spider’s body smoky lavender, its fuzzy legs charcoal gray, the giant web silver, and the jack-o’-lantern a deep pumpkin orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny swirls on the spider’s head and abdomen, then fill the larger web panels with light, even strokes. Add a moonlit twist by shading the web from pale blue at the edges to soft violet behind the spider.

High in the old theater rafters, Vesper tucked a cracked pumpkin seed under one foot and pulled her web-threads tight. She wanted one quiet note for herself, the note her mother had trapped there before the roof bell stopped ringing. Below, wind sniffed through dusty curtains, and the carved pumpkin on the prop shelf grinned with one broken tooth.

At midnight, the seed began to hum. Not loud—just a tickle, like a moth wing brushing paper. Vesper pressed it harder, but the sound slipped down a thread and woke every sleeping vine in the pumpkin’s stem. Curls climbed, leaves shivered, and the empty theater filled with golden bong, bong, bong.

“Share it,” whispered the pumpkin, though its mouth did not move. Vesper’s joy burst too big for one web. She spun the humming seed into the center, and every strand caught the song, silver and shining. Ever since, Halloween webs hold little bell-echoes for anyone quiet enough to hear them—especially where a spider waits above a grinning pumpkin.
