Every day, June spread her blue blanket in the flower meadow and lined up lunch: apple, napkin, cup, crunch. She wanted one quiet bite before the grasshoppers began their fiddling. But one day, the watermelon slice in the basket sneezed. “Ptoo! Ptoo!” Black seeds bounced across the blanket like tiny jumping beans.

Because of that, June chased them between daisies that smelled like honey. Because of that, a butterfly landed on the seeds and they spelled an arrow. June crawled after it to a cool patch of clover, where the watermelon whispered, “Best picnic spot.” Finally, June took her quiet bite there—until the seeds giggled again, and if you check the blanket, maybe you’ll spot where their next arrow begins.
