🎨 How to color it

Color the crown band bright gold, the heart jewels ruby red, the star points lemon yellow, and the swirling accents pale lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the small circles, nested hearts, and double-lined stars so the tiny spaces stay crisp. Try shading the biggest heart from pink at the top to deep red at the bottom, as if it is glowing from inside the crown.

Before the harbor bells rang, Tessa raced along the lantern docks with the parade crown tucked in a velvet sack. She wanted every boat in the moonlit flotilla to have a lucky spark before the tide turned. The air smelled of salt and lamp oil, and gulls clicked their beaks on the pilings as she polished the crown’s gold band with her sleeve.

Star points flashed. Heart jewels winked. Curly silver scrolls caught the lantern light as Tessa ran from skiff to skiff, dropping tiny paper charms where no one would see them. “For a brighter voyage,” she whispered, and the charms gave a soft fizz like soda bubbles.

Then her cloth snagged beneath the tallest heart. A hidden latch popped open where nobody ever thought to look, and out tumbled seed-stars, no bigger than freckles. Tessa laughed so loudly the tide seemed to jump. She planted one in each boat’s lantern, saving the last for the crown. By sunrise, the whole harbor glittered back at that hidden heart—can you find the spot that kept its secret shine?
