🎨 How to color it

Color the airplane’s body bright white with silver-gray wings, a blue tail logo, golden sunshine, and soft sky-blue clouds. Use sharp pencils for the rows of tiny windows and panel lines, then switch to broader strokes for the large fuselage and cloud shapes. Try a pale blue-to-lavender sky gradient behind the jet so the white airplane still pops.

The story behind this coloring page

The Cloud Cartographer’s Surprise — By the round airport window, Tavi folded, snipped, and taped a cloud map from lunch bags and straw wrappers. Read the full story →

By the round airport window, Tavi folded, snipped, and taped a cloud map from lunch bags and straw wrappers. He wanted Captain Sato’s crew to test it before the afternoon flight, so he drew arrows in blue marker and labeled each puffy shape: Marshmallow Stack, Pancake Fog, Sneaky Beard. The paper smelled like glue, and every flap made a proud little flap-flap.

Soon the jet hummed above the real clouds, and Tavi’s map lay open on the tray table. Captain Sato read each label over the speaker in her crisp voice. “Passengers, we are now passing Sneaky Beard.” Giggles zipped down the rows. Then a tiny silver paper airplane bumped the window from outside, looped twice, and pointed its nose at the sun.

A sky sprite in goggles waved from the paper cockpit. He had copied Tavi’s map in miniature and was adding one new cloud: Captain’s Mustache. Tavi pressed both hands to the cool window, bursting with quiet pride. His handmade map had gone farther than the tray table—far enough to make the sky misbehave. Next time you spot the jet between the clouds, see if the sun is hiding that flap-flap secret.
