Under the backyard arbor, Pip pressed a soft vine with both feet. Curl, curl, twist—he was making a hello for the morning. Leaves smelled green and wet, and the big flower nodded beside him like it was watching his work.
He tucked one tendril around a leaf and patted it flat. Then a peach-colored heart bobbed down on a thread. Pip blinked. A little beetle peeked from behind the flower, holding another heart made from petal scraps. “I made one, too,” she whispered.
Pip fluffed his chest. Together they added curls, hearts, and leaves until the arbor seemed to hum. If you find the heart above Pip’s head, you’ll know where their handmade hello began.
