High above the button shops, under the peppermint smell of drying ribbon, Pippa tied a bow as wide as her shoulders and saved the first silver skyglow in its knot. She stood in her rooftop circle of paper moons, glass bubbles, painted hearts, and star charms while the city’s clocks chimed soft as teaspoons. The glow gathered quietly, pearly and cool, brightening the dots on her skirt one by one.
Then one bubble did not float upward. It drifted close, tapped her shoe with a tiny plink, and opened like an eye. Inside was a moon no bigger than a cherry, watching Pippa watch the sky. “You found my window,” it whispered, and every charm around her turned its face toward the bubble.
Pippa untied the knot just enough for the skyglow to spill out in silver ribbons. The little moon caught some, the hearts warmed rose, the stars rang clear, and the bubbles carried bright specks over the rooftops for anyone awake to see. Next time a wide bow shines above a circle of moons and hearts, can you spot the window where Pippa shared the first silver skyglow?
