🎨 How to color it

Color the panda’s patches charcoal black, the party hat sunny yellow with teal stars, the balloons coral and sky blue, and the gift ribbons cherry red. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny stars, confetti triangles, and bow loops, then switch to markers for the panda’s belly and big balloons. Try making the bunting flags alternate lime green and purple so the party scene feels extra lively above the panda’s hat.

The story behind this coloring page

Rumi’s One-Breath Parade — Every evening, Rumi marched one circle around the lantern courtyard with a bamboo whistle, trying to blow one bright note without stopping. Read the full story →

Every evening, Rumi marched one circle around the lantern courtyard with a bamboo whistle, trying to blow one bright note without stopping. The sound usually wobbled before the moon gate. She would puff, squeak, and laugh into the smell of paper lanterns and sweet rice cakes. “One whole circle,” she told the cricket band. “Just one!”

Until one day, the birthday balloons were tied with tiny silver bells, and her first strong toot sent them bobbing into the bunting. Because of that, the flags snapped loose and made a fluttering tunnel over the stones. Because of that, the cricket band hopped after her, drums tick-tick-ticking, and the shyest cubs followed too.

Rumi’s paws tingled, but she kept the whistle at her lips. Finally, she reached the moon gate on one brave breath, and the balloons chimed like little stars. Next time you see her party hat, see if you can spot the parade that began with one bright note.
