🎨 How to color it

Color the kitten silver-gray, the striped nightcap candy-cane red and white, the stocking pine green with red holly berries, and the hanging ornament bright gold. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny snowflake arms, holly points, and ornament swirls, then switch to markers for the kitten’s fluffy fur and the stocking’s broad toe and heel. Try making the background stars pale yellow and the bubbles icy blue so the red-and-green stocking feels like the secret center of the page.

The story behind this coloring page

The Stocking That Learned Secrets — By the blue hour before Frost Eve, a small needle clicked in the mantel room. Read the full story →

By the blue hour before Frost Eve, a small needle clicked in the mantel room. Bram had set himself a challenge: sew a pocket inside the biggest stocking before the frost-bells rang, so he could tuck in one gift made by his own paws. The wool smelled like cedar and chimney smoke. He pushed the needle through, tugged the red thread, and whispered, “Just one secret stitch.”

But every time Bram sewed, the stocking gave a tiny shiver. Stars slid from the wallpaper. Snowflakes tapped the window with glassy little tinks. Even the holly berries seemed to watch. At the very bottom of the pocket, Bram found a loose silver thread, cold as moonlight. He threaded it through his needle and stitched a small loop, tight and neat, for his handmade pinecone bell.

The moment the loop closed, the stocking puffed soft as a cloud and held the bell without a sound. Since that night, Christmas stockings have secret pockets for treasures made by hand, and the best ones stay quiet until morning. If you peek at Bram’s stocking now, can you spot where the moonlit stitch might be hiding?
