🎨 How to color it

Try emerald and teal for the parrot’s layered feathers, coral for the beak, golden yellow for the chest sunburst, and deep violet for the floral mandalas around the corners. Use sharp pencils and color from the outer wing tips inward so the small feather veins and scalloped borders stay crisp. Add a mischievous twist by alternating cool blues and greens across each wing, then make the round belly medallion glow with warm oranges.

Every day, Saffron checked the conservatory’s labels, snipped loose threads from visitor ribbons, and pretended not to enjoy the dusty lemon smell of old greenhouse glass—until one day she invented Crown-the-Circles, a game requiring one stolen thread, three leaf shadows, and absolutely no permission. Because of that, her wings became measuring sticks; because of that, the hibiscus tags wore ridiculous halos and the fern bench gained a paper sun. Finally, when the keeper found her admiring the whole handmade mischief, Saffron clicked her beak with pride and resumed checking labels under the dusty lemon light.
