Across clover hill, Doodle tapped hoof-hoof, snorted puff-puff, and made a brand-new game: gallop, grin, tongue out! The wind smelled like sweet grass. His mane bounced. His ears went boing and flop.
“Again!” he neighed. Hoof-hoof, puff-puff, tongue out! Then the grass went chirp-chirp, right on beat. Tiny grasshoppers were playing too, tucked by the tufts.
Doodle grinned wider. Horse and hoppers made one big meadow song. Next time you see his silly tongue, can you hear hoof-hoof, chirp-chirp on clover hill?
