Under the fern-soft roof, Talla tucked her nose to her paws and held one happy hum in her chest. She wanted to carry it back to the other pups after nap time. The moss smelled cool and rainy, and the leaves above went shush, shush, shush.
A tiny voice answered, “May I hear?” From under Talla’s curled tail, a white hush-bloom opened, petal by petal, glowing like milk in moonlight. It had been listening to her quiet joy all along. Talla let the hum out, warm and round, and the bloom sent it into every leaf until the whole nest trembled with soft music. If you peek between the leaves, you might find where Talla’s happy hum is still hiding under the fern-soft roof.
