🎨 How to color it

Color the dolphin sky blue, the sea turtle olive green with a honey-yellow shell, the tiny fish coral orange, and the tall seaweed emerald. Use sharp colored pencils for the turtle’s shell plates, spotted head, and little fish fins, then switch to broader strokes for the dolphin’s smooth body. Try making the bubble trail fade from pale blue to clear, as if it is rising between the two grinning friends.

The story behind this coloring page

Every day, Tavi counted bubbles beside the tall ribbon weed: one, two, bloop, until the reef made a rude little snort. He wanted to ask the old turtle, Orla, what it was, but she always looked so calm, with barnacle freckles and a shell like a map. Tavi practiced brave words into a clam. The clam snapped shut. Not helpful.

One day the snort came from under the big gray rock. Because of that, Tavi swam closer than usual, whiskers of sea grass tickling his nose. Because of that, Orla paddled over, and Tavi blurted, “Does your rock giggle?” The rock snorted again—pfft!

Orla hooked one flipper beneath the stone and tipped it just a pinch. Out rolled a tiny trumpet shell with a crab inside, blowing bubbles through the wrong end. Tavi laughed so hard fish scattered like silver crumbs. Next time you spot Tavi by the ribbon weed, dare him to count past bloop without snickering.
