🎨 How to color it

Color the pumpkin bright orange, the tall curved stem warm brown, the vines deep green, and the falling leaves gold, red, and tan. Use chunky crayons or markers to fill the pumpkin’s big ribbed sections, and don’t worry if the color bumps over the lines a little. Try making the jack-o'-lantern’s carved eyes and grin glow yellow, as if a cozy candle is tucked inside.

The story behind this coloring page

The Candle Under the Stem — Under the quiet garden shed, Pip rubbed a smooth pumpkin with his sleeve. Read the full story →

Under the quiet garden shed, Pip rubbed a smooth pumpkin with his sleeve. He wanted his lantern to shine before the crickets began their chirp-chirp song, but the candle box was empty. So Pip stepped into the cool pumpkin patch, carrying his little wooden scoop.

Leaves brushed his ankles, and damp grass tickled his toes. At the far row, he found one pumpkin with a wobbly stem and paid for it with one muddy sock. When he lifted the stem, something rolled out—one tiny candle, smelling like honey. “I can make the light,” Pip whispered. Back by the shed, his own carved grin glowed soft and proud. Next time you see that wobbly stem, can you keep Pip’s honey candle secret?
